The truth behind Judging Amy’s cancellation

28 May 2005 12:56 pm

After six series, CBS pulled the plug on Judging Amy. We’ve written about this before, firstly on 17th May and secondly on 22nd May. The end result is that it will not be back for a second series.

Well that sucks, it was one of the few really quality dramas on TV. That said, if viewing figures aren’t bringing in enough people then I guess we just have to accept it.

The real problem is that Judging Amy was not cancelled due to low viewing figures! It was second in its timeslot battling it out with Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. It had plenty of viewers.

The real reason that Judging Amy was cancelled was that too many of the people who watch it are over 49. Yes, JA was shown the door because CBS didn’t like the audience. They want young people due to the fact that advertisers will pay more for a younger audience.

Think about that when you are missing Judging Amy, I know I will be. I mean come on CBS you could move it to a different timeslot; this show has a big enough audience! Don’t let another solid drama go.
